Tenant management organisations

MeetingTenant management organisations are groups of council or housing association tenants who are responsible for managing the homes they rent on behalf of their landlords.

The aims of tenant management organisations are to:

  • Provide better housing services in local areas
  • Have control of the way the rent money is spent on tenants’ estates
  • Make repairs service improvements.

If you are a council or housing association tenant and would like to contribute to these issues, consider setting up a tenant management organisation for your area. There are proven benefits for the whole community – not only tenants – to doing this.

bchs has many years of experience working with residents to set up organisations such as tenant management organisations. bchs can help your organisation tap into the national Tenant Empowerment Programme. This will allow you to draw on a grant to help you look into the options for putting your community more in control of local services. Tenants of housing associations can now access this grant, too.

We have set up numerous successful tenant management organisations in the Midlands and beyond. Ask the people we have worked with to tell you about the benefits. Contact us and we will put you in touch with the tenant management organisations we have set up.

Alternatively, contact us for an informal discussion about what is involved and what you can do to start finding out if this option is right for you. Email info@bchs.org.uk or call 0121 764 3808.
